Our Mission

Welcome to Florida's Educational Interpreter Project, a state-funded initiative to improve the skills of K-12 interpreters and transliterators working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The project provides statewide professional development activities without charge to districts and their employees. The project also offers college courses using non-traditional methods and stipends to assist with the cost of achieving higher education credentials.

The Project is housed at the University of North Florida, with funding from the Florida Department of Education, Division of Public Schools, Bureau of Student Services and Exceptional Student Education. This project is supported by federal funds from IDEA, Part B. Ms. Shannon C. Simon, M.S., CI, CT, CSC, OIC:C, is the Project Director.
