REGISTRATION FORM
2008 Summer Institute for Educational Interpreters
August 6 - 9 , 2008

  • Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. August 6 through Saturday, August 9 at 4:00 p.m.
  • Location: University of North Florida, Jacksonville, FL
  • No cost to participants or districts for the training.
  • Participants must secure their own lodging. Special rates have been arranged at the Wingate Inn near the UNF campus. Rooms accommodate up to 4 (2 queens) and are $89.00 per night plus tax.
  • Participants working in a school district, traveling more than 50 miles one-way and staying in the hotel during the institute will be eligible for a stipend of $125.00 paid 6 to 8 weeks after the institute for project funds.

INSTITUTE SELECTION
Choose only one (1) institute:

Institute 1 - accepting "waiting list" registrations ONLY.
Institute 1: Expanding Vocabulary and Improving Fingerspelling Skills
Pre-requisite:
Participant is non-credentialed, with 1 - 2 years of signing/interpreting experience.
Maximum participants: 20


Institute 2 and "waiting list" are full.
Institute 2: Preparation for the NIC Performance/ Interview Evaluation
Pre-requisite -
Participant must currently hold an EIE 2 or 3 or QA 2 or 3, OR passed the NIC written exam and plans to take the NIC
Maximum participants: 20

Institute 3 - accepting "waiting list" registrations ONLY.
Institute 3: Preparing for the National Interpreter Certification (NIC) Written Examination
Pre-requisite -Participant plans to take the NIC written evaluation before August, 2009.

Maximum participants: 30

Institute 4 - accepting "waiting list" registrations ONLY.
Institute 4: Introduction to Educational Interpreting
Pre-requisite: Participant has worked or will be working in the school district in the fall and has not completed a college interpreter preparation program.
Maximum participants: 20

Institute 5: Oral Transliteration
Pre-requisite -
Participant has 1 or more years of experience as a manual or oral interpreter/ transliterator.
Maximum participants: 20


Institute 6: Mentor - Pre-requisite: The participant must function as or be recognized by the District as the “lead” or mentor interpreter.
Maximum participants: 20
