Distance Learning Opportunities
Educational Interpreters in Florida
• Modules are offered completely online at no cost to the participants. Each module is a different length of time. The main vehicle for communication will be Blackboard (Bb) an online learning environment. Each module will be facilitated by a well-qualified instructor who is also an interpreter.
• Offered as non-credit modules. Participants who successfullly complete the module will receive a Certificate indicating hours of professional development (calculated at 2.5 hours per week, except the Mentoring modules which will require 4 hours per week). Nationally certified amd pre-certified participants can earn CEUs through the RID Certificate Maintainence Program or ACET if they complete all assignments and fully participate in the module. Information on the process and forms will be provided to participants by the Project after acceptance into the Module.
• The modules are designed for and open to full time district employees providing interpreting services to students who are deaf, hard-of-hearing or deaf-blind.
• Participants will need to be competent users of techology including, the internet, email, and the use of web cams. See the course syllabus for more details.
•Participants will need to download a video communication program and use it for "meetings" which will be held online.
•Only 12 participants will be accepted in each module.
